History of the association
The ASD Ijshaamanka was founded in 2004 by the will of Monia Mattioli, artistic director trained in Italy and London in classical dance, in the Netherlands at the University of Theater Arts (theaterschool), SNDO Development Department of New Contemporary Dance.
Over the years, the school has grown steadily every year by expanding the range of teachers and disciplines, relying on an exclusive 200-meter seat with access for the disabled in Serra De Conti, with an integrated dance theater research center in Pergola and with branch offices in Corinaldo and Frontone, and Pergola.
It has over 185 members from the provinces of Pesaro-Urbino and Ancona. The school employs a team of 10 qualified teachers, researchers, choreographers who follow both dance courses throughout the year. They and are operational teams in other 6 thematic and organizational areas that the association deals with, from research for development in integrated theater dance methodology, the strategic organization of cultural events such as festivals / seminars, reviews throughout the year, and actively participate in European Erasmus projects in which the association has been the leader since 2018.




The objectives set by the association are as follows:
- social inclusion through dance for disadvantaged groups such as minors in integration difficulties, both physical and cognitive disabled and immigrants;
- provide a pedagogical approach of professional introduction to dance and theater using a team of professionals in the field;
- contribute to the safeguarding of a cultural identity of internal and disadvantaged areas in the regional and national territory through dance and theater;
- contribute to the research for the development of a dance theater methodology shared in practice, capable of competing and dealing with other international institutions and professionals;
- to be a strategic reference structure to welcome a network of professionals interested in researching contemporary dance theater;
- conceives and curates the "Alter-Art" festival of contemporary art and dance theater focused on methodological innovation, social inclusion and environmental rights;
- participates in a European network of independent cultural organizations and festivals with strategic aims for a new European political culture.
